Climate Change and the Church

February 19, 2015

I’m just back from a Consultation on Climate Change organised by the Council for World Mission (CWM) in Nadi, Fiji. Here’s a poem that came to me one stormy humid day in the splendid isolation of the Novotel Hotel.

Building capacity.

Ordering gopher wood.

Till the will of God

Or the ancestors,

Like a wall of liquid sound,

Dissolves difference

Between the waters above

And the waters below

Only to sink

Beneath the coral soil

The jagged green hills

Steaming from every orifice

Grumbling with

Slow thunder
