Endgame (a movie review)

April 24, 2010

Initially this wasn’t on my top 5 list for the Film Festival. I guess I was suspicious of it being another sentimental ideological and biographical movie. However it took me by surprise. It is really a political thriller, focused beautifully on the moral-political tension without action-distractions and supported by several strong individual performances. It is tersely scripted and beautifully shot, full of great one-liners and a remarkable control of tension which makes the whole event very moving. What action scenes it has do not intrude but serve the dramatic trajectory. I found it thoroughly believable and thought-provoking.
